The 37th Annual Bob
Telmosse Christmas Giveaway was held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from
9am-3pm. The weather was unusually warm for late December, so we expected a
higher-than-normal turnout. However, that was not the case. We did have about
2,500 attendees and all 600 bags of food were distributed, but that is about
1,000 less than our average year. We learned later that there were other events
being held at the same time. Also, there were many folks who did not hear about
our giveaway until after the event. They relied on social media for information,
and we had only utilized our Facebook page for electronic marketing. We did
have notices in print and announcements on some radio and television stations.
The lower turnout did result in enabling most of the children in attendance to
receive a bike.
There were dozens of people behind
the scenes who volunteered their time and effort to bring this event to
fruition. From everyone who co-ordinated an event that benefited this giveaway,
to folks who transported donated items, to logistics personnel who helped pull
this all together and many others who made this annual event possible, we are
greatly indebted. There is no way an event of this magnitude could be
accomplished without the generous help and support of our community. Bob’s legacy of helping others continues
because so many are willing to step up and contribute to this much needed and
appreciated Christmas Giveaway.
